Frequent Questions

Who might use the data and findings from the BASE study?

One of the primary goals of the BASE program was to provide a foundation for researchers to understand the role that environmental variables play in causing health symptoms and how these variables affect perceptions of IAQ. EPA is making the raw dataset available to researchers, scientists and others interested in analyzing this type of data to further research and hypothesis development in areas of IAQ and health.

Also as part of efforts to confirm the quality and usability of the data collected, EPA and several collaborators summarized certain collected parameters and evaluated associations between certain collected environmental parameters and occupant perceptions and symptoms. This information is being provided to the public via publications and on the website to help scientists, environmental consultants, building professionals, building occupants, and others interested in IAQ to further understand IAQ in office buildings.
